Posted on Miguel Ángel MVerified Choquequirao Hi everyone, I highly recommend the Choquequirao tour (the one I did) with this agency because of all my options, it offered the best guaranteed service. There were no problems, so I'm very satisfied.Posted on Navigate03655434048Verified Recommended I did the Machu Picchu-Inca Trail tour with this agency, 100% recommended guys, the service was excellent and seeing all these places was simply beautifulPosted on Navigator25956226682Verified A really wonderfull experience Visiting Manu National Park with this agency was truly the best choice! 👌 The Peruvian rainforest is truly magnificent and wonderful, and the agency really gives you the opportunity to experience the best of it.Posted on LuisVerified A Remarkable Journey to Choquequirao An unforgettable 5-star adventure to Choquequirao, with breathtaking views, incredible Inca ruins, and a true sense of untouched beauty throughout the trek. The experience was made even better by our tour guide, Richard, who was knowledgeable, funny, and kind—he kept us motivated, shared fascinating insights, and made every moment along the journey even more enjoyable.Posted on Nancy MVerified The trip of my dreams!!! I'm Nancy and I loved the experience we had with the tour. We had a wonderful experience to remember. The service was excellent, punctual, and professional from everyone who accompanied us. We'll definitely be back, thank you so much! 🤗Posted on rocio cVerified beautiful experience We had an unforgettable experience with this company visiting Manu National Park for two days. My family and I are very happy to have enjoyed such a well-organized tour. We saw monkeys, birds, snakes, capybaras, caimans, and much more. Thank you for this great experience, Trails to Machu Picchu.Posted on Sreeram HariharanVerified Worth it Had a wonderful trip to Choquequirao Site with Richard as our guide. Everything was perfect and Richard was very knowledgeable.Posted on Warner JVerified Very well organised trip I felt little sick because of the altitude, a day before the tour, but since everything was booked, I decided to do the tour anyways. Thanks Richard for going above and beyond in ensuring that everything was going smoothly. He was constantly in touch with me through Whatsapp ensuring that I was doing well. The guide was very kind and took things really slowly and never made felt rushed. The lunch was very nice at a local restaurant in Sacred Valley. I was accommodated for a night at a hotel in Aguas Calientes, the room was very nice and the hotel was right in the centre of the town. The guide showed up the night before and briefed me on what to expect. Everything was just perfect. In Machu Picchu, the guide walked us directly to the view point first while other groups were still in the lower part of the citadel. We had plenty of time in Machu Picchu and got a detailed insight into the Andean history and culture.Posted on Andre SmithVerified Incredible experience I had the chance to do the 4-day Choquequirao trek with Trails to Machu Picchu and it was truly an amazing experience. The landscapes along the way are stunning and the site itself is simply unique. Everything was very well organized and the team was always friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a real adventure in Peru.Posted on yosfran gVerified Choquequirao An incredible 4-day adventure to Choquequirao The views were absolutely breathtaking and the ruins are truly magical. Our guide was fantastic and made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable trek in Peru 🌄

We answer your questions before your adventure
For the classic Inca Trail, we recommend booking at least 6 to 8 months in advance, as government permits sell out quickly. For alternative adventure routes such as the Salkantay Trek, Choquequirao, or the Ausangate trek, it is ideal to book 2 to 3 months in advance. If you are looking for day tours in Cusco (such as the Sacred Valley or City Tour), a couple of weeks is usually enough, but booking in advance guarantees your spot and a better organized itinerary with Trails to Machu Picchu.
The best time for hiking in the Peruvian Andes (including Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain) is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. Days are usually sunny with clear views, although nights are cold. If your Peru package includes tours to the Amazon rainforest (Manu or Tambopata), this same dry season is ideal, as there is less rain, trails are more accessible, and wildlife observation is exceptional.
Our hikes to Machu Picchu and expeditions in the region vary in difficulty. Routes like Salkantay and the Inca Trail are moderate to challenging, requiring good cardiovascular health and endurance to walk several hours a day. Treks like Choquequirao or Ausangate are more demanding due to steep slopes and altitude. We always recommend prior cardiovascular training and arriving in Cusco a couple of days early to properly acclimatize.
The city of Cusco is located at over 3,300 meters above sea level. To avoid altitude sickness (soroche), we suggest resting on the first day, staying hydrated, and drinking the traditional coca tea. It is highly recommended to schedule lower-altitude tours at the beginning of your trip, such as our City Tour in Cusco or a visit to the Sacred Valley, before undertaking higher and more demanding routes like Humantay Lagoon or Rainbow Mountain.
Cusco offers incredible landscapes beyond the traditional route! If permits for the Inca Trail are sold out, at Trails to Machu Picchu we have excellent alternatives. The Salkantay Trek is famous for its stunning glacier and cloud forest scenery. Another great option is the Inca Jungle, which combines cycling and hiking, or shorter and more exclusive routes that also culminate with a visit to the Inca citadel.
Yes, absolutely. At Trails to Machu Picchu we are experts in creating tailor-made Peru packages. You can design an itinerary that begins with cultural immersion in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, and continues with an ecotourism expedition into the biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest, either in the Tambopata National Reserve or Manu National Park. Contact us and we will create the perfect adventure for you.
Our goal is for you to enjoy your trip without worries. Most of our Machu Picchu packages and multi-day hikes include private transportation, professional bilingual guides, entrance tickets (including Machu Picchu), high-quality camping equipment, and full meals during the trek. For day tours in Cusco or the jungle, inclusion details vary, so we invite you to check the “Includes / Not Included” tab on each specific tour page.
Book with local experts and enjoy an unforgettable experience.
