Humantay Lake From Cusco

The journey will commence at 5:00 AM. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. The guide and driver will greet you, and then we will begin the drive to Soraypampa. For the first segment, we will drive through the scenic Anta plains. 

Your eyes can feast on panoramic views of charming villages and the imposing Salkantay and Humantay Peaks.

Mollepata:

We will arrive at the small village of Mollepata around 7:30 AM. Here, we will stop for a rejuvenating breakfast and you might want to purchase some last-minute essentials for the trek. After breakfast, we will resume the drive, curving and ascending through even more remote areas. The vehicle will steadily climb the mountain roads, offering glimpses of unfolding natural beauty outside your window.

Soraypampa:

Upon arriving at Soraypampa at 9:00 AM, we will lace up our hiking boots. The trek towards Humantay Lake will officially begin. During the trek, the path will introduce us to a melange of breathtaking sceneries. 

Verdant valleys, rugged trails, and occasional wildlife sightings could all play a part in your trekking experience. The ascent will be gradual but rewarding, bringing you closer to the spiritual highland lake with every step.

Humantay Lake:

Your arrival at Humantay Lake will be around 11:00 AM. Your efforts will find reward in the stunning blend of turquoise waters and the Salkantay Glacier Peak overhead. Here, we will spend some time basking in the tranquil environment. 

We’ll snap photos and perhaps partake in a short traditional Andean ceremony. Your guide will lead the ceremony. We will also enjoy a light snack beside the luminous lake, surrounded by the vast openness of the Andean landscape.

We will begin our descent back to Soraypampa at about 12:30 PM. Your knees will thank you as the route downward is much kinder. The vistas will remain a constant companion, ensuring your return journey is just as visually rewarding.

Back in Soraypampa at 2:00 PM, our transport will be waiting to take us to Mollepata. The drive will provide a perfect opportunity to rest those trekking muscles.

By 4:00 PM, we will find ourselves back in Mollepata. We will serve a hearty lunch, offering local Peruvian dishes to replenish your energy. Post-lunch, the return drive to Cusco will begin. The meandering roads will bring you back into the heart of the city by approximately 6:00 PM.
