Maras and Moray Half-Day Tour

The Maras and Moray Tour will provide you with an introduction to the Inca civilization. This tour will take you to two of the main sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas: the Maras Salt Mines and the agricultural terraces of Moray.

The Maras Salt Mines have been in use since pre-Inca times. Local residents continue to practice the traditional extraction method. The site is home to more than a thousand geometrically shaped pools that receive water from a natural spring and wait for it to evaporate. Once the water has evaporated, salt crystals remain and are collected by hand.

Moray was an important agricultural center for the Incas. Its circular terraces feature different temperatures at each level. The Incas experimented with various crops here. Thanks to this, Peru currently produces more than 800 varieties of potatoes and more than five different types of corn.

This is one of the must-do experiences in Cusco. You can complement your experience in Maras and Moray with our biking or ATV tours.
