DAY 1: CUSCO – ABRA MALAGA – HUAMANMARCA – SANTA MARIA

The first day of the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu begins with an early morning departure from Cusco. You’ll be picked up from your accommodation around 6:00 AM. You will then embark on a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley. The journey takes about 3 hours, during which you’ll pass through picturesque villages and stunning landscapes.

Upon reaching Abra Malaga, the starting point of the trek, you’ll find yourself at an altitude of 4,316 meters (14,160 feet). Prepare for the adventure ahead. Gear up for an exhilarating downhill mountain biking experience.

The ride covers a distance of 60 kilometers (37 miles) and descends to the town of Huamanmarca. It is situated at an altitude of 1,800 meters (5,905 feet). Along the way, you’ll marvel at the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and rivers.

After reaching Huamanmarca, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch break and have a chance to rest. Post-lunch, you’ll continue biking for another 3 hours through the scenic landscape, ultimately arriving at the town of Santa Maria.

You can leave your large suitcases or backpacks at our office or at your hotel in Cusco for free. We recommend packing a small day backpack with the essentials for the 4 days of the trek.
