Manu Reserved Zone Tour – Tambo Blanquillo (7 Days)

We will set out from Cusco through Paucartambo toward the mist-covered cloud forest, where lush vegetation will surround us. Monkeys, hummingbirds, and orchids will fill the journey with color and sound. At the end of the day, we will settle into Bambu Lodge, near the edge of the Amazon.

From there we will reach Atalaya, where our navigation along the Madre de Dios River will begin. The river will carry us deep into the jungle, with possible sightings of capybaras and caimans. At Dorado Lodge we will rest surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest and an endless green landscape.

Soon we will enter the heart of the Manu Reserved Zone through Boca Manu. Along the river we may spot red macaws and giant river otters. At Casa Matsiguenka we will experience the rhythm of the forest and take part in a guided night walk under the stars.

In the Heart of Manu – Wildlife, Culture and Serenity in the Jungle

We will paddle by canoe across Cocha Salvador, a calm lake rich in wildlife. Black caimans, hoatzins, and playful giant river otters may cross our path. Walks through the dense forest will lead us to cultural encounters with indigenous wisdom and traditional Amazonian life.

Continuing along the Madre de Dios River, we will observe howler monkeys, herons, and perhaps even jaguars. In Makisapayoc we will rest beneath the rainforest canopy. The stillness of nature will offer moments of wonder and reflection.

The journey continues toward Blanquillo, home of the famous Macaw Clay Lick. Dozens of parrots and macaws may create a vibrant spectacle. Near Cocha Blanco we can drift silently among caimans and squirrel monkeys. Nights at Blanquillo Lodge will offer a full immersion in nature.

Finally, we will travel toward Puerto Colorado and continue to Puerto Maldonado accompanied by Machu Picchu Amazon Peru. With memories of untouched nature and extraordinary wildlife, we will leave the Manu Reserved Zone behind, though we will never forget it.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Bambu Lodge

We will begin this 7-day tour at 5:00 A.M. in private transportation. Our adventure starts in Cusco, at 3,400 meters above sea level. The route first takes us through the Andean highlands, crossing scenic valleys and traditional villages. As we ascend, the landscapes become more impressive.

After 90 minutes we will arrive at Ninamarca, located at 3,750 meters. Here we will explore ancient pre-Inca funerary towers built by the Lupaca people. Our guide will explain their cultural importance and Andean burial traditions. These stone structures offer views over deep valleys and surrounding mountains.

We will continue another 40 minutes to Paucartambo, a colonial town full of folklore. Its narrow streets, adobe houses, and famous white bridge make it an important cultural stop. We will enjoy a traditional breakfast while listening to stories about local festivities such as the Virgen del Carmen celebration.

From there we will continue to Abra Acjanaco, at 4,000 meters above sea level, the official entrance gate to Manu National Park. We will make a brief stop to register our passports. Then we will begin our descent into the mysterious Cloud Forest.

In this green world we may observe orchids, moss-covered trees, and giant ferns. The cloud forest hosts an incredible diversity of life. From the forest canopy we may hear trogons, toucans, and quetzals. With luck, we might even spot the elusive spectacled bear.

In San Pedro we will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by dense forest. Afterwards we will walk along a short trail to observe Peru’s national bird, the Andean cock-of-the-rock, performing its striking courtship dance in its daily display area.

Finally we will continue to Bambu Lodge, located at 550 meters above sea level, where we will spend the night. The lodge features comfortable rooms, private bathrooms, mosquito nets, electricity, and internet. In the evening we will enjoy a warm dinner surrounded by the atmosphere of the jungle.

Thanks Richard Did this four day Salkantay Trek with them as the Inca Trail was sold out. It was very pleasant experience and Richard, our guide took great effort inmaking this trip a memorable one. The camping sites were located in quiet parts of the trek, giving us opportunity to get good rest after a day full of hike. The food were all freshly cooked and authentic. Highly recommend

Immervie, cultural and traditional I booked this four day Choquequirao trek after not being able to hike the Inca Trail due to lack of availability. The trip was very well organised, the tour company took care of everything from transport and food to accomodation and entrance tickets. The guide was very nice and spoke good English. The site itself was very less crowded and scenic. Higly recommend visiting Choquequirao if you want to know more about the Incas history.

Thanks Richard! Did this two day trek with Richard, our guide. He was very friendly, informative and passionate to share his knowledge about the local traditions and customs. The trek included all meals and were all freshly cooked. The camping sites were located overlooking the valley. The red valley trip was the highlight and i truly enjoyed it more than the rainbow mountain.
