Day 1: Cusco to Santa Rosa via Capuliyoc
We will begin our exciting trekking adventure in Choquequirao, Peru very early in the morning. We will depart from Cusco at 4:00 a.m.. Our journey starts with a scenic drive through the Peruvian Andes in the Cusco region. We will admire the impressive landscapes and traditional villages. After approximately four hours, we will arrive at the trailhead in the village of Cachora, located at an elevation of 2,900 meters (9,514 feet) above sea level.
From Cachora, we will begin our Choquequirao excursions toward Capuliyoc. The initial section of the hike offers spectacular views of the Apurímac River and the surrounding mountains. The trail is well marked and descends gradually, making it accessible for most hikers. We will take short breaks to acclimatize and enjoy the natural beauty around us.
Continuing our route, we will reach Capuliyoc, located at 2,800 meters (9,186 feet) of elevation. There we will have the opportunity to rest and enjoy the panoramic views of the canyon and the trail ahead. From Capuliyoc, the trail descends more steeply toward the Apurímac River. This section of the hike can be demanding, so we will proceed with caution, ensuring everyone’s safety.
After descending to the Blanco River, we will cross the bridge and begin the ascent toward Santa Rosa. The climb is steep and demanding, requiring a steady pace and determination. We will arrive at Santa Rosa, located at 2,100 meters of elevation, where we will camp for the night. This will be our opportunity to relax, enjoy a good meal, and prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day 2: A Steady Ascent to Choquequirao
We will begin the second day of our Choquequirao tour early in the morning. We will leave Santa Rosa behind and continue our ascent. Day 3: Immersion in Choquequirao and Descent to Chiquisqa
We will begin our third day with a morning exploration of Choquequirao, the “Cradle of Gold”. Our expert guides will lead us through the ruins and share information about the Inca civilization and the importance of Choquequirao within the empire.

The trail will be steep, but the cool morning air will make the hike pleasant. As we climb, we will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Apurímac River and the surrounding mountains.
We will arrive at Capuliyoc by mid-morning. We will take a short break to rest and enjoy the panoramic views one last time. From there, we will continue our hike back to Cachora.
The trail will become easier as it gradually descends. This will allow us to enjoy the final section of our hike without too much effort.
Upon arriving in Cachora, we will have lunch and celebrate the completion of our hike to Choquequirao, Peru. We will remember our incredible journey, from the demanding hikes to the impressive visit to Choquequirao. After lunch, we will board our vehicle and return to Cusco.
